According to IZSF public relations department, Dr. Mohsen Mehralizadeh and some of the IZSF members met Mr. Azad Rahimov, Azerbaijan’s Sports Minister, on the margins of the Islamic Solidarity Games.

At this meeting, which was held following prior correspondence and in order to develop Zurkhaneh Sports and Koshti Pahlavani in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan’s Sports Minister appreciated the efforts of ISZF to promote this Iranian sport in Azerbaijan and other parts of the world. Then, he expressed his satisfaction with the participation of Zurkhaneh Sports and Koshti Pahlavani athletes in the fourth Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku.

President of International Zurkhaneh Sports and Koshti Pahlavani Federation also expressed hope that the problems caused for one of the Zurkhaneh sports on the eve of the Baku Games may be solved and said: “IZSF announces its readiness to cooperate with Azerbaijan in order to enhance the quantitative and qualitative level of Zurkhaneh Sports and Koshti Pahlavani which has a 3000-year history and cultural authenticity.”

Dr. Mehralizadeh thanked Azerbaijani government for paying attention to Zurkhaneh Sports and Koshti Pahlavani and appreciated Baku’s hosting of the Islamic Solidarity Games.

At the end of the meeting, IZSF delegation gave a precious picture of Zurkhaneh Sports to Azerbaijan’s Sports Minister as a memento of their visit.
