Zurkhaneh sports are played individually and also in groups. They are divided based on whether or not they use accessories in two groups:
1. Accessory-activities including Sang Gereftan, Milgiri, Shena and Kabbadeh Zadan
2. Non-accessory-activities including stretching and warm up, foot tapping, spinning and heroic

Zurkhaneh sports in group are played in twelve stages as follows:
1. Entrance to the field, coordination, installment and Jargeh Zadan
2. Sang Giri
3. Sheno (Sarnavazi, Pich and Jofti)
4. On-stick warm-up (Poshte takhteh warm-up)
5. Mil Bazi
6. Mil Giri (Sangin, Shallaghi, Mil warm up)
7. Foot tapping (different techniques and forms)
8. Spinning of all sorts (Tiz, Chamani, Takfer)
9. Last foot
10. Kabbadeh
11. Performance of heroic wrestling techniques
12. Prayer

Zurkhaneh sports performed individually are as follows:
1. Sang Gereftan
2. Kabbadeh Keshi
3. Mil Bazi
4. Mil Giri Sangin
5. Spinning (Tiz, Chamani)
6. Heroic wrestling in different weights
Zurkhaneh sports could be performed in:
These performances are done under Morshed’s or Miandar’s supervision to strengthen the body, for safe divertissement and/or enriching leisure time. Their time depends on spectators’ and players’ enthusiasm and will. Some tricks and techniques like greetings and poetry reciting by players who have nice voices accompany the sports. Morshed makes it all more interesting by singing and reciting nice quotations. These practices are more popular with and prevailing among different age groups. The placement of players is according to their professionalism and Siadat (if they are descendants of the Prophet)
In group competitions athletes perform the sports in rhythmic group moves following Miandars’ or Morshed’s guidance for 30 minutes and individual sports are performed according to regulations. On occasions and ceremonies, athletes play sports according to the time they have. According to IZSF regulations, sport competitions among different age groups are organized in three branches of heroic wrestling, individual and group sport athletic performances.
